An exciting opportunity has arisen for an e-Appraisal Implementation Co-ordinator, to support the roll out of the e-appraisal and revalidation element of the Medical Workforce Systems Programmefor a 9 month fixed term period.


Reporting to the Medical Appraisal and Revalidation Manager, the post holder will be part of a small team whose responsibility is to extend an existing e-appraisal system across both sides of the legacy Trust.


This Corporate Programme is a significant and strategic part of the HR function and a Board level priority for UHSx.

The Programme's objective is to roll out a complete suite of systems (e-rostering, e-job planning, junior doctor rota compliance and exception reporting, together with medical appraisal and revalidation.)


Delivery will be against the backdrop of a busy operational healthcare environment in the context of a recently merged Trust and also significant pressure on all services across the organisation.


This is an ideal opportunity for someone with a desire to help and support our medical staff to develop through a robust appraisal system based within a learning environment.

The post holder will be expected to work across, including St Richard's Hospital and Worthing Hospital.


  • To liaise accordingly with the key stakeholders.
  • To provide high quality project, service and administrative support to the Medical Appraisal and Revalidation Manager, Responsible Officer and Lead for Appraisal and Revalidation relating to non-career grade doctors' and Consultants' medical appraisal and revalidation.
  • To provide high quality project, service and administrative support to the Medical Appraisal and Revalidation Manager, Responsible Officer and Lead for Appraisal and Revalidation relating to appraisal and revalidation of non-career and Consultant Dental practitioners in accordance with the General Dental Council.
  • To work with clinicians and their representatives to ensure that their assigned activities are completed successfully, to agreed timescales to the agreed level of quality.
  • To provide quality assurance data and statistics of the appraisal and revalidation process against General Medical Council (GMC) and Royal College Standards for appraisal and revalidation by inputting into regular reporting to the Management Board.
  • To support, monitor and facilitate both the appraisal and revalidation process and provide specialist support to the medical workforce, through specialist education and training to staff and students to ensure the appropriate implementation and maintenance of the agreed system.
  • Under guidance, participate in research and audits in relation to the project and support performance improvement.

Provide support to the Responsible Officer, Lead for Appraisal and Revalidation and Medical Appraisal and Revalidation Manager in relation to revalidation recommendations, in accordance with the GMC Responsible Officer Protocol.


  • Provide advice to medical staff in relation to revalidation and appraisal and related processes.
  • Contribute to the development of an online appraisal system and act as the daytoday system coordinator within UHSx.
