What is the role?


The Data Protection Officer will identify and mitigate privacy risks across the business, working with stakeholders to support the management and mitigation of the issues identified.


The DPO will cover all aspects of the business, promoting good data privacy practices to ensure that employee's and customer data is protected, and that Gatwick maintains its high standard of data protection and compliance with legal obligations.


What will you do?

  • Define requirements and lead on data protection legislative compliance, risk, policies and governance, extensive engagement with stakeholders, regulatory bodies and external agencies.
  • Leading on the investigation and management of data breaches and taking the lead on interaction with external agencies such as the ICO
  • Leading on the strategy and audit plan ensure compliance with all data protection related regulatory requirements
  • Responsible for the management of Gatwick's legislative obligations
  • Responsible for the risk management process for data protection and the risk management framework
  • Manage Security Awareness & Training requirements in conjunction with Learning & Development team
  • Maintaining a good understanding of the concept of data protection by design and by default and ensure it is implemented throughout the business in all new projects.

Do you have what we're looking for?

  • CIPP/E, CIPM or other officially recognised certification would be desirable.
  • Experience in a regulatory, compliance, risk or legal function, responsible for monitoring legislative updates.
  • Maintaining a good understanding of the concept of data protection by design and by default and ensure it is implemented throughout the business.
  • Experienced in producing timely updates for the EMB and Audit Committee on data protection updates, breaches and risks. Sitting on Information Security Governance Boards to assess and drive risk management across the organisation.
  • Knowledge of maintaining and managing privacy metrics and performance dashboards for senior management review.
