I am recruiting for a Service Manager to oversee one of my clients brand new Supported Living Services based in Bishop's Stortford, supporting adults with Learning Disabilities, Challenging Behaviours, Autism and Prader Willi.

You must have previous leadershipexperience in a Supported Living or Residential setting supporting Adults with challenging behaviours to be considered for this opportunity.

My client is happy to consider experienced and highly ambitious Deputy Managers for this position also.

Key Responsibilities of a Service Manager:

  • To assist the Registered Manager by leading the care team in achieving and where possible exceeding, care standards determined by CQC, Local Authority Contract Monitoring.
  • Working alongside the Registered Service Manager to undertake referral assessments, plan transitions and work with individuals and their circle of support to coproduce and implement support plans.
  • Collaborating extensively and effectively with service users, their families, friends, and professionals to provide a service which maximises client outcomes.
  • Working with service users' to attain new daily living skills and build on existing ones.
  • Managing performance of around 10 staff members through supervision, coaching and training.
  • Team building and maintaining a highly motivated workforce.
  • Recruitment and selection of staff matched to needs of service users.
  • Dynamic risk assessment and positive risk management to ensure reflective practice and management of incidents to promote learning and a positive culture.
  • Ensuring the safety of service users, staff and visitors and safeguarding vulnerable adults.
  • Liaising with external professionals and agencies.

Service ManagerRequirements:


  • Experience of providing care and support to people with Challenging Behaviours/ LD
  • An understanding of Positive Behaviour Support principles and approaches.
  • Experience of managing and supervising staff.
  • A minimum of an NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care Leadership and Management
  • A commitment to personcentred values, ethical practice and the ability to maintain an open, reflective and accountable culture.
