You'll have experience of working within a safety critical environment, with a practical understanding of Health & Safety legislation - ideally with some experience of delivering toolbox talks.

The role is responsible for monitoring the Terminal Control 'Safety' systems, ensuring that abnormalities are escalated to Management/Engineering Teams. You'll be responsible for maintaining accurate data to allow tracking of operational performance.

Main Responsibilities

  • Accountable for monitoring the environmental impact of terminal operations, effectively deploying environmental control systems, ensuring that all operations are carried out and recorded in accordance with LAPCC Environmental permit.
  • Operates the Terminal Management/Control Systems (Coal & Biomass) and Weighbridge system, including stock entry; providing customer stock information; liaising with Customers and Agents.
  • Liaises with the appointed Port Rail Coordinators, Freight Operating companies, Network Rail and
    ABP Rail Terminal Operators to ensure that the weekly dispatch schedule is maintained, and that any stoppages and 'off plan' variances are recorded and communicated to the Planning team.
  • Responsible for ensuring the effective deployment of service providers in accordance with the requirement of the shift plan, recording any issues and ensuring that these are communicated to the supervisory team
  • Liaise closely with the Operations and Engineering teams, ensuring equipment is available/cleaned to allow planned maintenance to be effectively carried out, therefore minimising operational disruption whenever possible.
Skills & Experience

  • Service & Customer driven with good interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate to all levels.
  • A sound knowledge of Plant/Control Room/Weighbridge systems, preferably in a similar industrial environment
  • Proactive approach with sound organisational skills.
  • Sound IT skills which should include Outlook, Excel & Word.
  • Experience of working in a pressured environment with a track record of meeting targets in a timely manner.
  • Previous experience of working in a Control Room environment preferable, and a sound understanding of Control Room systems.
