Primary School Teaching Assistant at a
delightful school located in
Stockport (SK6). Join us in
September 2023 and embark on a rewarding journey in education. This position offers a
temporary to permanent role, where you will have the chance to secure a contract after a term.

easily accessible for both staff and students.


Position Details:

As a Primary School Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in
supporting the educational development of our students.

You will work closely with teachers and other staff members to deliver an
exceptional learning experience.

The position consists of
27.7 hours as a
teaching assistant and
5 hours as a
midday assistant, with full-time hours from
8:30 am to 3:30 pm.



Key Responsibilities:


  • Utilise your expertise in phonics to support the school's phonics shed program, or any other phonics scheme in which you have experience. Training in the specific scheme will be provided.
  • Assist students with ASD/behavioural needs, providing necessary guidance and support.
  • Help children improve their motor skills through tailored activities and exercises.
  • Implement talking maps and SEMH (social, emotional, and mental health) interventions to support students' wellbeing and development.
  • Facilitate reading and writing groups to accelerate progress and improve literacy skills.

Required Skills:


  • Experience with phonics is highly desirable. Familiarity with the phonics shed program is advantageous, but any phonics experience will be beneficial. Training in the specific scheme will be provided.
  • Strong understanding and ability to work with students with ASD/behavioural needs.
  • Proficiency in assisting children with motor skills development.
  • Knowledge or experience in utilising talking maps and SEMH interventions.
  • Ability to lead reading and writing groups effectively, fostering accelerated progress.
  • Initiative and proactive nature in executing your responsibilities.
