Support Assistant - Part Time

Roxby Avenue, Middlesbrough

£10.43

24 hours per week - Rolling rota covering 7 days per week plus sleep ins

These are qualities we are actively looking for in the person, to join our team as Support Assistant at Roxby Avenue.


Located in a residential area of Middlesbrough, Roxby Avenue supports 8 adults with learning disabilities aged 16-65, using the Life Star Model.

You'll be supporting our residents with their daily living and encouraging them to develop skills so they can move towards independent living.

You don't need to have experience, just a passion to learn and care for our residents, along with enthusiasm.

We'll provide you with a comprehensive induction programme as well as on-going training to develop new and existing skills and encourage progression.

Sanctuary has their own Learning and Development Academy, who provide a wide range of training courses, open to all.

The role of Support Assistant will include:

  • Providing a high quality, hands-on care and support service which enables and encourages our residents to develop the skills necessary for independent living
  • Ensuring that residents are supported by developing their daily living skills such as cooking, cleaning, shopping and being part of their community
  • Working with colleagues and partner agencies to achieve the best outcome for our residents
  • Supporting and encouraging our residents, and their families when required, to express their wishes and concerns appropriately and effectively

Skills and experiences:


  • Ideally you will have experience of working with adults with learning disabilities
  • Initiative and assertiveness will also be key to your success, as you will be required to source innovative solutions to problems, allowing our clients to reach their potential
  • Excellent interpersonal, organisational, listening and time management skills, allowing you to form positive relationships with people
  • Ability to keep accurate records and clearly communicate relevant information
