Description

We are looking for an Administration Officer to work with our team in providing comprehensive and confidential administrative support to the Gloucestershire Diabetic Eye Screening Programme.

The post holder will liaise with patients and healthcare professionals to ensure that the best possible care is offered.

They will need excellent communication skills and be able to work well as part of a busy team, remaining calm under pressure.


The post holder will be required to assist with maintaining electronic records of diabetic patients within Gloucestershire and ensure that patients are invited for screening in a timely manner.


They will need good telephone experience and keyboard skills to book and rearrange appointments and have excellent attention to detail.

The post holder will need to be flexible to meet with competing demands on their time within this busy office.

They will also be required to work within the reception area and be confident as the first point of contact for patients attending appointments

Gloucestershire Diabetic Eye Screening Programme has the purpose of ensuring the early detection of sight-threatening diabetic retinopathy and the reduction of blindness.

The department is closely linked with Research, Ophthalmology and Medical Photography to form a diverse and enthusiastic team.

  • Answering telephone enquiries from patients and other health care professionals
  • Generating and mailing patient invitation and appointment letters and booking appointments.
  • Printing and sending patients' grading reports to patients, GPs and hospital Consultants.
  • Maintaining accurate and uptodate records on patient registration software.
  • Undertaking general office duties to assist in the efficient running of the department.
  • Providing assistance and cover during absence of other administrative team members, including receptionist, to ensure service provision is ongoing.
