This is a full-time, open ended appointment.**
Birkbeck, University of London are seeking a talented individual to support the academic activities of the Faculty and the departments therein.


Particularly, you will work with teaching staff and with professional and support colleagues across the college (especially with Programme Managers and those in Student Support Services) to support students.


You will monitor the engagement data of students in the faculty, contacting students at risk of non-progression or non-continuation and set up measures to help them to re-engage and succeed.

This will include onward referral where necessary to ensure that they receive personalised and targeted interventions to meet their engagement and welfare needs.


You will be required to adopt a flexible approach to work and must be willing to become involved in projects to enhance progression rates and study outcomes and to some working in evenings and weekends, by arrangement.


Ideally, you will have:


  • Understanding of the needs of a diverse study body and of current issues and trends in the higher education sector
  • Understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding when dealing with vulnerable students, including knowledge of data protection issues
  • Knowledge of student support services available in the college
  • Commitment to Equality and Diversity
  • Understanding of college assessment regulations
  • Experience of working with, listening to, and supporting students
  • Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work sensitively with other people's needs
  • Proven commitment to customer service, quality improvement and delivery of results

Remuneration:

Grade 5 of the College's London Pay Scale which is £32,096 rising to £36,374 per annum.


The salary quoted is on the College's London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated Weighting/Allowance which applies only to staff whose normal contractual place of work is in the London area.
