The Role


The School of Arts and Cultures has an exciting opportunity for a professional and enthusiastic individual to join our specialist technical team to provide support to students and colleagues across the school, in particular the provision of an efficient and reliable equipment loan service, operation of audio-visual equipment and assisting with fabrication and art installations.


You should be able to demonstrate good problem solving and communication skills, the ability to use your initiative to complete your workload and switch between tasks as required.

You should have knowledge of the use and servicing of audio visual equipment as well as general hand tools.

This post is for 22.2 hours per week (0.6fte), working days to be discussed and agreed at appointment.

Interviews are likely to take place week commencing 4 September.

Key Accountabilities
Provision of reliable equipment loan sessions.
Provision of reactive technical support and trouble-shooting for areas including teaching rooms, computing, audio, video and PA.

Maintain teaching rooms, edit suites and studio spaces, including routine maintenance, fault reporting, checking the operational status, troubleshooting, repairs and reporting more complex issues to senior member of the technical team.

Assist senior technicians with art installations and general fabrication.

Facilitating technical set-up for events and public lectures across the School; this may involve occasional evening and/or weekend work to support events.

Support senior technicians in maintaining health and safety policy within the School including facility audits and acting as first aider and fire warden.

Provide inductions as to the safe use of equipment and facilities for users of CultureLab building and across the School when required.

Support facilities and activities across the School, particularly within CultureLab and Fine Art.
