Description

NHS Tayside Public Health Directorate is seeking to appoint an experienced individual to join the Early Years & Young People Team.

Using a human rights-based approach the post holder will lead a project focussed on ensuring children and young people are meaningfully involved in the design and development of health and wellbeing interventions, particularly relating to overweight and obesity.


This project will reflect the Scottish Government's desire to ensure that weight management services are both accessible and age-appropriate for children, young people and their families, whilst also contributing to ambition 4 of the Tayside Child healthy Weight Strategy.

The Tayside Healthy Weight Service has a well established specialist service and is currently developing and piloting community based interventions.


The post holder will engage with young people across Tayside in a variety of settlings including schools and in their communities.

Although the focus will be on healthy weight there is an expectation that the project will have a holistic approach to the health and well being of young people, particularly in relation to addressing health inequalities.

The post holder will work using coproduction methodology.

The post will be based within the Public Health Directorate, Kings Cross Hospital, Dundee.

The post holder will be managed by the Early Years and Young People Team Lead, they will work closely with public health colleagues, Tayside Nutrition and Dietetic Service, and education partners and voluntary organisations across Tayside.

**You will be required to achieve the mandatory Induction standards for Healthcare Support Workers in Scotland and to comply with the Code of Conduct throughout your employment.
