Are you an amazing Operations Manager with experience of working in a language school or school holiday camp environment or similar?


The key responsibility for this Operations Manager role is to ensure the high standards of all areas of programme delivery for the organisation.

It also includes the management of both permanent and seasonal members of the Operations Team. The role is Hybridand the office location can be either based in Abingdon or Maidenhead.


Key duties and responsibilities for this role are as follows:

  • Be the main person responsible for the emergency phone
  • Manage the overall operational logistics for the schools
  • Ensure all programmes are delivered to a high standard above the British Council guidelines.
  • Screen, Interview, manage and train the Operations Team (Operations Executives, Regional Managers, Academic Director, Assistant Academic Director).
  • Line manage two Regional Managers
  • Create monthly forecasts of costs per centre to ensure courses are delivered within budget.
  • Setting budgets and managing costs
  • Deal with any issues/complaints with agents/host centres.
  • Deliver training to seasonal managers to ensure all standards are communicated and understood.
  • Liaise with Centre Management staff over the delivery of the courses.
  • Liaise with different suppliers to ensure all coaching, entrances and all other suppliers are booked and audited. This includes the need to review, negotiate and tender prices regularly.
  • Liaise with Regional Managers to complete appraisals and references for Centre Directors.
  • Liaise with the Recruitment team to assist with staffing issues.
  • Ensure KPI's are being met by each member of the Operations Team.
  • Complete regular centre visits (two per centre) and liaising with the Operations Team
  • Help to ensure that the Health and Safety policies are implemented and adhered to at all times
  • Ability to lead and manage a large team
