Primarily based at The Town centre Hub, Merthyr Tydfil and/or Civic Centre / Lleolir, yn bennaf yn Hyb Canol y Dref, Merthyr Tudful a/neu yn y Ganolfan Ddinesig.

Job Purpose


To play a key role in the Council's response to increasing levels of homelessness by engaging with communities, individuals and our partners to deliver comprehensive welfare benefit and income maximisation advice.


As part of the multi-disciplinary Help Hub team, you will offer advice to customers, helping them overcome crisis and find sustainable solutions to financial issues.

The role involves providing information, advice and signposting to other services that may assist with debt management and other financial problems, undertaking casework, negotiation and representation on customers' behalf.


To support people to overcome financial challenges and achieve stability and provides broader support around management skills, employment options and life skills.


To work in close partnership with the authority's Training and Employability Team co-located at 'The Hub' in Merthyr Tydfil, to actively encourage individuals that are not in employment or training, to engage in training activities that may promote future employment opportunities, increasing income and reducing the risk of homelessness.

All new applicants are required to complete a 10 hour online Welsh Work Course.

You will need to complete parts 1 and 2 of the course and must be able to evidence this prior to starting work with the Authority.
