Founded in 1927 as a 'centre of light and culture' for Hull, the University is proud to play a leading role in the educational, social, economic and cultural development of our unique city and region. A strong sense of place remains at the heart of our identity as a civic university with a global perspective tackling world problems, whilst supporting the regeneration of our local region and economy. It is the union between education, research and knowledge exchange, and between the local and the global, which defines us as an internationally engaged civic university that puts students and staff at the heart of what we do.

Our research and teaching are designed to inspire thinking and expand horizons, providing excellent academic programmes alongside a fantastic student experience.

We are on the road to increasing our research capacity, with the goal of being placed in the top 50 universities for research with a focus on achieving significant increases in research quality and income.

At the same time our partnerships with local, national and global organisations are working to address the challenges facing society.

Following the appointment of our new Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dave Petley, we are now seeking an exceptional new Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences to join our Senior Leadership Team.

The Faculty has a diverse offering across five schools and two research institutes, and has seen a recent substantial investment of £28m into the University Health Campus.

With a new Faculty structure, and building on a successful REF2021 outcome, the Faculty has a key role to play in delivering our ambitious and distinctive 2030 strategy as we continue to grow as a major research-led, civic university.

We are seeking a visionary leader for the Faculty who can define a clear academic direction for our existing disciplines whilst finding ways to take advantage of potential new areas of activity.

They will have responsibility for improving our academic programmes and the student experience, whilst building research capacity and helping to drive economic growth in the Hull and Humber region.

They will also play a key role in looking externally, fostering collaboration nationally and internationally.
