We are recruiting an ongoing temporary (estimated 4-6 months) HR Advisor to join our client's Human Resources team in Birmingham.
With a sizeable workforce and a commitment to providing top-quality educational services, the organisation has a strong reputation for excellence and inclusivity across the region.
The role of HR Advisor (Central Birmingham):
- Provide guidance and support throughout the employee life cycle, ensuring adherence to policies, laws, and best practices.
- Offer initial support for both informal and formal HR cases, escalating complex issues as necessary.
- Collaborate with HR Admin on recruitment and onboarding processes, including attending interviews and facilitating inductions.
- Handle employee paperwork such as contracts, promotions, and leaver notifications while maintaining data confidentiality.
- Coordinate investigations, disciplinary actions, grievances, and performance reviews, as well as provide support during related meetings.
- Monitor and advise on sickness absence management, return to work processes, and employee welfare, aiming to minimize absences and enhance wellbeing.
- Assist in conducting HR workshops, training sessions, and management coaching.
- Administer maternity/paternity/adoption leave in compliance with legislation and in coordination with Payroll.
- Provide regular reporting and updates on cases to meet deadlines.
- Attend HR team meetings and relevant operational area meetings.
- Fulfill additional duties as assigned by HR leadership.
A successful HR Advisor should have:
- CIPD Level 5 or above.
- Uptodate of UK Employment Law.
- Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of disciplinary and grievance procedures
- Proven working experience as an HR Advisor, HR Generalist or similar role.
- Demonstrated knowledge of HR systems and databases.
- Excellent active listening, negotiation and presentation skills.
- Ability to architect strategy along with leadership skills.
- Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company.
