We are recruiting an ongoing temporary (estimated 4-6 months) HR Advisor to join our client's Human Resources team in Birmingham.

The role of HR Advisor (Central Birmingham):

  • Provide guidance and support throughout the employee life cycle, ensuring adherence to policies, laws, and best practices.
  • Offer initial support for both informal and formal HR cases, escalating complex issues as necessary.
  • Collaborate with HR Admin on recruitment and onboarding processes, including attending interviews and facilitating inductions.
  • Handle employee paperwork such as contracts, promotions, and leaver notifications while maintaining data confidentiality.
  • Coordinate investigations, disciplinary actions, grievances, and performance reviews, as well as provide support during related meetings.
  • Monitor and advise on sickness absence management, return to work processes, and employee welfare, aiming to minimize absences and enhance wellbeing.
  • Assist in conducting HR workshops, training sessions, and management coaching.
  • Administer maternity/paternity/adoption leave in compliance with legislation and in coordination with Payroll.
  • Provide regular reporting and updates on cases to meet deadlines.
  • Attend HR team meetings and relevant operational area meetings.
  • Fulfill additional duties as assigned by HR leadership.

A successful HR Advisor should have:

  • CIPD Level 5 or above.
  • Uptodate of UK Employment Law.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of disciplinary and grievance procedures
  • Proven working experience as an HR Advisor, HR Generalist or similar role.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HR systems and databases.
  • Excellent active listening, negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Ability to architect strategy along with leadership skills.
  • Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company.
