Job Title:
Wellbeing Lead

This job requires a DBS check at Enhanced level with barred list for Adults.


Reporting to:
Deputy Manager (Dementia and Wellbeing)


Responsible for:
Care Assistants (multiple)

Activity Assistants (multiple)


Role Purpose:

To lead and encourage beneficiaries and service users to join in meaningful activities whilst maintaining their independence, choice and dignity, to enable them to lead as full and active life as possible.


Dimensions of the Role:

Care Services forms part of the Operations Directorate of the Royal British Legion. It incorporates the Legion's care homes, community facilities plus the Admiral Nurse Service.

Our services are regulated because we provide:

  • Treatment, care and support including both personal and nursing care to adults in care homes;
  • Services for people whose rights have been restricted under the Mental Capacity Act;
  • Support to carers of beneficiaries living with dementia.


The post holder will be required to comply with the regulations, legislation and guidance governing the Health and Social Care sector.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Care and Support for Beneficiaries_
  • Create a stimulating and varied programme of leisure activities and social events, inside and outside of the home, for beneficiaries and service users to enjoy. To work with each new beneficiary/service user to understand their likes/dislikes, abilities and needs to put together an individual social care plan.
  • Design a programme of activities to promote a diverse range of experiences and activities assisting beneficiaries to regain and maintain daily living skills.
  • Roster a skill mix of staff and volunteers to support beneficiaries to maximise their participation and personal enjoyment of the service.
  • Business Performance_
  • Lead the team and support the delivery of a varied programme of recreational, therapeutic and social activities that are engaging, creative and inclusive.
  • Conduct risk assessments of premises, outreach venues for the provision of a safe environment ensuring that concerns are documented and reported to the Wellbeing Manager.


Wellbeing Lead V- July 2020 Page - Produce a weekly events/activities programme ensuring it is advertised within the home and communicated promptly displayed in a public area.


  • Commission sessional tutors, entertainers, facilitators etc. to deliver activities and experiences ensuring they have the correct qualifications and insurance and maintaining records as evidence.
  • Review social care plans ensuring these are uptodate and completed accurately.
  • Undertake surveys and feedback to assess the effectiveness of the social events and activities programme.
  • People Management_
  • Manage staff so they can evidence the work with beneficiaries by recording assessment, monitoring and evaluation data as well as capturing the beneficiary's journey.
  • Manage staff to deliver personcentred services and social activity plans that build on beneficiaries' strengths and abilities are creative, informative and inclusive.
  • Facilitate staff to undertake codesign of services that beneficiaries' views, needs and wishes are at the forefront of service delivery.
  • Manage shifts and develop productive relationships, as mentor and role model to team members and volunteer.
  • Ensure the ongoing development of staff including regular supervision and Performance
Development Reviews.

  • Support volunteers in their role and ensure they receive appropriate induction, training, supervision and support.
  • Planning and produce of duty rosters, ensuring staff training and holiday absences are scheduled appropriately with agency usage minimised.
  • Manage absences and poor performance, escalating practice concerns where appropriate, in accordance with RBL policies and procedures.
  • Marketing, Fundraising and Public Relations_
  • As part of a team, assist in the delivery of the annual Festival of Remembrance, Care Homes
Open Day and other key armed forces, national and community events.

  • To promote and enhance the existence of the home in the community and encourage the use of communal spaces within the home for groups to meet and hold events.

GENERAL:

  • To adhere to infection control polices and guidelines in order to promote cleanliness and reduce infections. Hand hygiene must be undertaken correctly to prevent the spread of infection. Personal protective equipment must be used in accordance with RBL. In addition, to contribute to the cleanliness of the work environment and keep it "clutter free" and tidy. Also, to attend mandatory training and updates to ensure training is received appropriate to the role.
