Job overview:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a senior Educator

  • Paediatrics QI to develop a quality improvement project that will oversee and provide the day to day management for the development and maintenance of paediatric education within the Clinical Education portfolio.


The post holder will construct, lead, oversee and deliver training in simulation based education for all staff employed by the trust, and wider community services.

The post holder will be expected to work with a minimum of supervision and to co-ordinate his/her activities in order to support the Lead Educator

  • Commission Education and Quality.


You will be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining robust lessons plans and training resources whilst ensuring standardisation of paediatric simulation based education across the wider trust.


The post holder will coordinate his/her activities in order to effectively manage his/her own workload, time, clinical and operational responsibilities.


Main duties, tasks & skills required:

As part of the clinical education team you will provide evidence-based specialist advice, support and in-depth procedural / policy knowledge relating to paediatric skills issues to all Trust staff, the wider health community patients and relatives.

Provide paediatric education expertise for staff during their attendance at identified training.

Maintain a high clinical profile within the Trust, giving support to the clinical staff and clinical education wider teams as appropriate

In liaison with the Lead educator

  • Commissioned Education, attend meetings as part of the core team, disseminating information to other members of the service as required.
To maintain clinical competence in and be able to teach often highly complex clinical procedures and skills, e.g., venepuncture, cannulation, IV drug calculation and administration, defibrillation, pacing and cardioversion, supraglottic airway management of the paediatric patient


To be responsible for maintaining own professional education, development and expertise in order to ensure an effective service to the Trust, including the maintaining an awareness of new developments in the field of paediatric.


Work with the quality lead for DNACPR to develop a programme of education which supports clinicians, parents, relatives in relation to Do Not Attempt Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (DNACPR) Orders and end of life care.

Qualifications:


Essential:

NMC/HCPC registered practitioner

Maintained relevant CPD activity of essential hours in the past 3 years

Additional professional development and leadership activities

Registered nurse child branch

EPALS/PILS provider Postgraduate Certificate of Education or equivalent or working towards


Experience:


Essential:

3 years acute paediatric nursing experience.

Sound Knowledge within the field of paediatric high dependency care
