Job description:


Principal Valuation Surveying Lead - Role Overview
This is a technical surveying and leadership role primarily involving project management of valuation work for national clients.

You will provide valuation advice to high profile Central Government clients as well as Local Authorities nationally. This will include valuations for financial reporting purposes, regeneration, acquisition (purchase and lease), disposal, rent reviews and planning viability. Negotiations in this regard will be highly complex and require sensitive negotiations, often, with property developers.

The role holder will provide management duties within London and within parts of East including Essex, Cambridge and Colchester.


Principal Valuation Surveying Lead - Key Responsibilities**:

  • Project manage valuation work for national clients.
  • Provide technical leadership, guidance, and support to caseworkers within DVS primarily on a regional basis. This may also be required nationally from time to time.
  • Have an awareness of the wider political, economic, social, technical, environmental, and legislative agendas that impact District Valuer Service (DVS), Central and Local Government clients.
  • Proactively market our professional services to existing and potential clients, developing and maintaining client relationships. Identify and develop new products and services as required by clients.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure customer satisfaction. Understand and challenge the needs of the client.
  • Report to stakeholders up to Sector Head where necessary.
  • Act as an expert witness, appearing before arbitrators or completing the submission of evidence to independent experts and Lands Tribunals where required.

Person specification:

You will have strong leadership skills with the ability to engage with, and influence, stakeholders at all levels.


Essential Requirements

  • A full UK driving licence.


  • Willingness to travel

  • A strong understanding of client requirements from Central Government and local authority clients reflecting the current market.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills the ability to build trusted and credible relationships with clients, peers, and direct reports.
  • Line management experience and a willingness to coach, support and encourage individuals to excel.
  • Horizon scanning and risk mitigation skills.
