Liverpool & Sefton Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Service has grown at a significant rate following a successful bid for Long Term Plan funding, allowing us to support an increasing number of women, partners, and families within the perinatal period.

In order to continue this expansion and ensure high-quality care with a "think family approach" we are looking to recruit a Clinical Lead.

We are seeking practitioners who are passionate about providing excellent care to women and families within the perinatal period. and seeking to reduce health inequalities.


We are a supportive, friendly highly committed service who provide multidisciplinary specialised care to women in the perinatal period with moderate to severe mental health problems.

We offer excellent training opportunities to our staff and robust supervision to support delivery of high quality care.

Work autonomously taking responsibility for care, quality
and clinical activity by providing specialist professional leadership and guidance, clinical advice and management

Participate in the development and implementation of services and care pathways for women, birthing people and families with
mental health problems within the relevant framework/model for service delivery.

Provide clinical leadership, supervision and support to colleagues.

They will work with the Team and Operational Manager
to review and implement national and local guidance, and service innovations.


Ensure the delivery of a clinically effective service which meets the needs of service users and their families in line with local and national development plans, Trust policies and procedures.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical

  • Undertake and monitor comprehensive assessments of patients needs. Plan, implement and evaluate care delivery according to changing health care needs.
  • Co-ordinate/oversee, where appropriate, the provision of a care package appropriate for the patient, co-ordinating the work of others involved with care, arranging care reviews as required and communicating effectively with the patient and their family or carers and others involved in care; and to monitor progress during the course of the identified / specific intervention.
  • Undertake risk assessments of patients, their families or carers in their relevant area of practice.
  • Undertake assessments of patients experiencing severe, complex and persistent mental health problems and to make recommendations about treatment options taking into account the relevant evidence-based research.
  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team to ensure effective care plans and treatments are in place for highly complex patients and families.
  • Work collaboratively and ensure maintenance of effective multi-disciplinary communication and with other professionals, agencies and stakeholders to ensure needs are met in relation to care input, support for ongoing care needs and safe discharge.
  • Communicate highly complex information about a patient's condition to multidisciplinary team colleagues, to ensure effective delivery of treatment and interventions.
  • Lead and support others to recognise, prioritise and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations including the assessment and management of risk.
  • Use skills and expert knowledge to clinically lead and enable others to deliver best practice across the service.
  • Participate and take clinical responsibility for the management of the Duty rota.
  • Ensure patient information is collated, monitored and fully accurate, maintaining complete and contemporaneous records in line with NMC/ professional bodies and Trust standards.
  • Participate in a range of therapeutic interventions underpinned by specialist knowledge and theory; this will also involve co-ordination of other team members.
