Description

Our client is a 30-person studio in London, best known as the creators of Monument Valley, Assemble With Care, Alba: a Wildlife Adventure, and most recently Desta: The Memories Between.


They are a mobile-first, multi-project studio, and their teams draw from a diverse range of experience and creative influences to craft interactive entertainment with stand-out production values, heart and broad appeal.


They're looking for an experienced technical artist to join them on a permanent basis, to work on multiple projects developed in parallel, help shape the company's culture around technical art, and be a champion for technical visual innovation.


They'r looking for an artist, with an artist's point of view and an educated taste, self directed, innovative, and with technical and creative ambition.

An artist who's able to break down the components of an existing art style and elevate the parts andthe whole, while keeping scope and performance under control.


You will:

  • Work closely with lead artists and the teams at large to achieve beautiful and innovative visual solutions for all their games, and help bring each game's vision to life.
  • Create all kinds of shaders for their characters, terrains, plants, water, special effectseither using visual editors or writing the code yourself.
  • Collaborate with programmers to find the best lighting and rendering techniques for each game.
  • Create VFX using particle systems and other techniques.
  • Take the initiative, experiment and inject your own creativity into their games, challenging their assumptions and helping tthem reach new heights. Think up cool stuff
  • Collaborate with programmers and artists to set up art and animation pipelines in their current environment (Unity, Blender) and collaborate with the team to ensure the smooth implementation of the game's visuals.

Requirements:


  • An educated artistic taste and a solid understanding of current visual trends within and outside the games industry.
  • Passion for and uptodate knowledge of modern techniques to create visuals for games.
  • Experience creating and refining shaders.
  • Experience with VFX and particle systems in Unity.
  • Knowledge of the capabilities and limitations of mobile platforms.
  • Experience creating and maintaining art pipelines in collaboration with programming teams.
  • At least one shipped game as a technical artist.

Desirable:

  • Experience working with Unity and Blender.
  • Technical and artistic understanding of animation.
