About The Role:


This is an entry-level role, suited to those who or are due to graduate university in 2024 or have already graduated.

Our Graduate Development Programme is a two-year learning programme with an aim to develop well-rounded specialist graduates in a chosen business area.

You are a permanent employee from day one and will have a real opportunity to make an impact at Cala through executive sponsored projects as well as completing two varying discipline rotations across the wider business.


The programme includes:

  • A threeday formal induction in Edinburgh
  • Classroom and virtual sessions covering key stages in the construction lifecycle, and key business skills such as commercial awareness and influencing
  • Interactive group projects working with a number of other graduates in disciplines across the business allowing you to build a strong network
  • Networking opportunities with senior managers and peers
  • Onetoone support from line managers, mentors, recent graduates, and industry professionals


Alongside programme activity, you will receive on-the-job training and play an integral role within the Construction_ _team in our East_ _region.

Our Construction teams are responsible for the safe delivery of homes to our customers.

This team pays particular attention to Health, Safety & Environmental matters, Programme Attainment, Product Quality, Cost Management, Contractor and Supplier liaison, with ultimately a strong customer focus.

The Construction team in East works closely with our Commercial, Technical, Sales, and Customer Service colleagues to ensure a team approach.


Your key responsibilities are therefore as follows:

  • Shadow the site team and learn the full house building process, including quality control processes
  • Learn about all site resources including labour, plant, and materials, as well as overall site management
  • Ensure Health and Safety standards are maintained and followed through a constant checking process and take immediate corrective action if you witness a breach of the Cala guidelines
  • Assist in the management of subcontractors in all aspects of site delivery
  • Provide excellent customer service throughout the house building process, supporting customers where possible with any house building queries

About You:


We are seeking a new team member who is confident and has the passion and drive to succeed at the highest level.

You will have achieved, or be on track to achieve, a Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g. Construction Management)_.

_You should also be able to demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and abilities:


  • A cando attitude, with ability to work on your own initiative
  • Strong people and relationship building skills
  • Effective time management, organisation, and prioritisation skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A teamplayer
  • Interest in the housebuilding industry
  • Industry experience is beneficial but not required
  • Must have a full Right to Work in the UK
  • Must have a valid UK Driving License, access to a car/vehicle and a willingness to travel

LOCATION
Cala Homes (East) Limited is one of eight regional Cala businesses. The East team oversee Cala's new home developments in the Lothians and Fife. As part of this role, you will be required to visit our developments across the East region.
