The Role


The Transport Co-ordinator will support the branch management team, by providing a successful delivery service, effectively supervising a team of drivers, whilst being responsible for a fleet of vehicles.

The working hours for this position will be Monday - Friday and 1 in 2 Saturdays, = 44.5 hours per week.
**Key Accountabilities

  • Ensure Lawsons Best practices, Standards and Company Policies are met.
  • Responsible for ensuring the correct products are delivered to the required location within the given time frame and must effectively organise and manage a team of drivers and fleet of company vehicles.
  • Ensure that all delivery vehicles are routed to maximise efficiency
  • Accurate checking and maintaining of all paperwork including downloading Tachograph's & Drivers Digital Cards
  • Overseeing routine vehicle checks
  • Ensuring staff are supported and trained to do their job
  • Ensure all vehicles, maintenance, inspection schedules and MOT's are met
  • Managing customer queries in a calm and decisive manner
  • Working closely with Group Transport to ensure accidents and misuse of vehicles are reduced
  • Route planning / managing online orders
  • Engaging & motivating your team.

Building material knowledge and work experience in a Timber / Builders merchant (ESSENTIAL)_**- Excellent Communication Skills

  • Basic knowledge & understanding of Transport Legislation and procedures
  • Previous experience within a Transport Department

  • Strong numerical skills with the ability to calculate weights and measures
