What you'll need

Essential

  • To create the new, to challenge, to be brave and to establish a future that is very different both in structure and in how we serve our customers
  • Extensive experience and technical engineering knowledge and implementation of a broad range of platforms (such as hosting choices including Cloud (GCP/Azure/AWS/ICP/OCP) plus experience of Containers and building containerbased platforms i.e., Docker and platform roadmaps
  • Be technology agnostic and willing to adapt your approach in pursuit of the best solution. Enabled by an excellent knowledge and understanding of multiple engineering & software design solutions (including but not limited to microservices and APIs, platform management as well as building and scaling secure APIs for internal and external consumption), data driven design, devsecops, quality engineering and automation)
  • Deliver the extraordinary through building a committed leadership team, acting as a natural valuesled role model, to build and inspire a diverse workforce. Engage at all levels, creating a 'people first' culture and communicate vision, direction and ideas
  • Significant experience of leading teams using agile techniques development methods & tooling e.g. Scrum, Kanban, Jira & Confluence, OKRs/GBRs to prioritise work for value creation linked to the business mission. This includes multi facets of value creation such as customer attraction or retention, income creation, risk avoidance, improvements in ongoing costs, technical debt investment & resilience activity to improve speed to market
  • Accountable for ensuring all decisions are made within a sound risk framework, ensuring resilience and within Group standards and appetite
Desirable

  • Set the vision, a clear directive and strategic roadmap for technology activities to demonstrate value and to promote quality of technical delivery
  • Drive resilience, simplification, modernisation and the use of new technologies to create agility through the architecture
  • Well versed in technical architecture principles and comfortable taking a lead in this and platform development
  • Expansive experience in systems architecture and integration with suppliers and in running large monolith and sophisticated technical ecosystems
  • Deep Engineering Experience including Agile, DevOps, Cloud, modern tool chains and other contemporary software delivery practices
  • Exceptional leader with a passion for team development, creating an impactful team with the skills to coach colleagues through change and empower from the top.
  • Drive a culture of learning and continuous improvement influenced by standard methodology. Play a direct role in supporting and pioneering Engineering Chapters, guilds and community activities
