Description
The department provides ophthalmology services to a large part of the Birmingham population and is a busy department. There is ample opportunity to see a wide spectrum of cases. The glaucoma service manages adult patients with the whole spectrum of glaucoma. There is scope to learn the full range of glaucoma procedures including SLT and YAG laser, complex cataract surgery in glaucoma patients, mínimally
  • Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS), Trabeculectomy, Preserflo and Tube Surgery under both general and local anaesthesia.


The successful post holder can expect to gain experience in managing acute and complex clinical, laser and surgical management of glaucoma patients which would form a firm foundation for a senior fellowship in glaucoma.

We have close links with the Glaucoma service at the Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre.
