A bit about the role:


We have a fantastic opportunity for a hardworking, friendly and reliable individual to join our growing production team, as a Fish Filleter.


In this role you will prepare fish in line with customer specifications, including weighing, packing and labelling fish products that adhere to company and legal guidelines.

The type of customer specifications we offer including scaling, skinning, gutting, filleting and portioning whole fish.

As a fish filleter, you will be based in a cold environment (factory) for prolonged periods, so full PPE and uniform are supplied.

You will be working alongside our fun and supportive factory team, as well as be in communication with our friendly sales and buying team.


We have introduced an employee development and grading system that allows employees to grow their careers and have a better earning potential. This job advert details a starting salary, but when you progress and improve in the role, your earning also improves.


Please note, during peak periods, there might be a requirement to work some overtime due to delivery and business needs, which is payable as overtime.

Previous fish preparation knowledge or experience in food preparation and fish cutting is required


General duties will include, but are not restricted to:

  • Cutting, and preparing fish to customer specifications, including scaling, skinning, gutting and filleting whole fish or fish portions
  • Maximising the yield of the product and minimising waste to ensure production is as efficient as possible
  • Inspecting product quality and temperature and identify any nonconforming products
  • Weighing, packaging, and labelling products to meet company and legal specifications
  • Cleaning and maintaining tools and equipment
  • Adhering to food safety and sanitation controls
  • Maintaining and adhering to company health, safety and quality policies
  • Embracing training opportunities and taking ownership of your own personal development
  • Attending staff meetings as required

A bit about you:


  • Education in food preparation or fish cutting experience is experienced
  • Knowledge of fish preparation techniques and cuts is experienced
  • Ability to use hand tools, stand or walk for extending periods, lift heavy items, and work in cold environments
  • Ability to prioritise work to set deadlines, meaning good organisational skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Good time management skills, being punctual and reliable
  • Able to work well independently and in a team
  • Enthusiastic and selfmotivated
  • Demonstrates drive and positive approach to work
  • Willingness to learn and progress
  • Flexible approach to paid overtime during peak periods

As a fish filleter, we are looking for a team player who is willing to help out their production team and support our factory manager.

To succeed in this role you should be courteous, knowledgeable, and detail-oriented.

We need someone with good communication skills and a good understanding of fish quality, cuts, and preparation would be an advantage.
