Description

Youth Support Worker (Detached and Contextual Safeguarding)
Havenbridge House, Great Yarmouth

£24,982- £27,041 per annum (Scale G)

In Norfolk we have exciting and ambitious plans to enhance the way we work with young people and their families.

The Targeted Youth Support Service was started in early 2021 and forms part of a multi-agency commitment to improving outcomes for young people at risk of suffering harm outside of their family home.

Relationship based practice is at the heart of what we do.

We are looking for a practitioner who can build trusted relationships with young people and provide interventions that increase safety and support a positive transition to adulthood.

As an enthusiastic and skilled professional, you will contribute to the planning, organising, delivery and evaluation of programmes and activities (street based) which support the personal development of young people and enable them to develop emotional resilience, increase aspirations and become future leaders in their communities.

You will be required to establish and build new, positive relationships through detached youth work with children and young people from the local community, and offer the potential for social, educational and personal development, within a framework that reflects the community from which they come, their presenting issues, and the ethos of the organisation.

You will support and signpost young people to access information, advice and guidance.

Another key aim of this role is to maintain good communication with project partners to develop a cohesive detached youth offer for young people.

In addition to a Youth Work or other relevant NVQ Level 3 qualification, you will have previous experience of working with vulnerable young people.

You will have a working knowledge of child exploitation, the county lines model, factors impacting young people who go missing and understand adolescent development.

With experience of working in partnership to improve outcomes for young people, you will understand safeguarding policy and practice and have the ability to assess and address risk.

You are required to travel as part of your role, the majority of which will involve working in a range of locations across the community with young people in the places and spaces in which they congregate.

You will be responsible for your own travel arrangements and you may also be required to transport children in your own vehicle.

In order to facilitate positive engagement with young people, you will be required to work outside of normal office working hours, including evenings and weekends.
