What you will be doing
As one of the leading global marine insurers, we aim to deliver the exceptional service and support that helps our members overcome risks and achieve their operational and technological goals.
We have an opportunity to join our External Affairs team as Head of NorthStandard Academy.
This role is the first of its kind at NorthStandard and you'll be responsible for shaping and implementing our technical training programme, internally and externally facing, whilst owning and managing a large portfolio of products within our Academy to deliver ongoing skills development for every NorthStandard learner to support their career and development objectives.
You will partner with many stakeholders throughout the business, including leading experts in the maritime insurance sector and work side-by-side with the People & Culture team to embed a culture of learning, support our club values and complement our ambitious talent and DEI agenda.
Your main duties will include:
- Lead by example and role model a passion for bestinclass technical training that supports club wide learning, development OKRs and advocating for the NorthStandard Academy services
- Provide technical training to develop skills and competence in specialisms such as P&I, Underwriting, FD&D, Loss Prevention and support the technical onboarding process for all new joiners to the club
- Consolidate and manage our library and establish our Knowledge Management best practise, including sourcing and implementing a new digital solution to allow for learning at the point of need
- Design, develop and manage a commercial (externally facing) portfolio for the Academy, which includes technical training and programmes for our members and clients, including our leading residential course
- Develop innovative and monetised, products to maximise our knowledge share in a profitable way for Members, Clients and external audiences, as appropriate
A confident communicator, you should also be able to challenge and influence at all levels, and liaise and communicate effectively with internal and external partners.

Ideally, you'll have:
- A strong understanding of learning pedagogy
- Experience in launching new learning products and scaling these within an organisation
- The ability to work with a variety of learning or knowledge management platforms (LXP/LMS)
- Worked on both traditional and modern training methods for example, gamification, mobile learning, online learning, onthejob training, coaching and workshops
