Job Background:


The well-established Integrating Migrant People through Activities to Connect and Thrive (
IMPACT) programme aims to support refugees and non-EU migrants to settle into their lives in Bristol and the surrounding areas through a programme of holistic activities, coordinated and delivered through 3 key areas: Language, Preparation for Work and Cultural/Community activities.

The programme is primarily funded through the EU Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund, which will come to an end on 31st December 2023.

Fundraising is ongoing and legacy plans are in place to ensure the project's extension for 2024.


The Senior Community Officer leads the delivery of a range of community activity sessions as part of the Bristol IMPACT project.

These sessions, based around the theme of 'Culture and Community' will bring refugees and migrants together in local communities to promote inter-cultural understanding and are likely to include, but not be limited to, visit to culturally relevant sites, food growing, cooking, arts and crafts.


The Senior Community Officer will also lead on the Monitoring and Evaluation of the overall IMPACT programme in Bristol, compiling evidence against set objectives and producing written reports.

They will also be responsible for developing partnerships with the sector in Bristol to support current project delivery and future plans, working closely with the Delivery Manager and fundraising team to develop project plans and proposals.


Main Objectives:


  • Play an instrumental role in the delivery of the IMPACT programme, by leading on the planning and delivery of a range of highquality community activity sessions, in line with the requirements of funders and partners.
  • Lead on the monitoring and evaluation of the overall IMPACT project in Bristol, including overseeing the implementation of existing systems by the delivery team, and producing written reports to funders, with the support of the Delivery Manager.
  • Support the Deliver Manager and fundraising team with fundraising and bid development for
Bristol IMPACT legacy and other IMPACT-related projects as required.

  • Ensure professional best practice and compliance with internal finance, project management systems and procedures.
  • Line management of volunteers and sessional tutors where necessary.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:


1. Project management and delivery

  • Lead the development and implementation of the cultural/community activity for the Bristol


IMPACT project beneficiaries, including the planning and delivery of high-quality educational sessions, overseeing delivery targets, managing budgets, ensuring overall programme outcomes are achieved.


2. Evaluation and continuous improvement

  • Execute the implementation of the programme' s monitoring and evaluation plans within all
Bristol IMPACT activities as required, in line with Funder requirements.

  • Contribute to funder reporting, writing progress reports with the support of the Delivery
Manager.

  • Collect and store personal and personal sensitive data in line with GDPR regulations and
Funder requirements.

  • Ensure all completed Bristol IMPACT activities undergo meaningful evaluation against the agreed performance indicators, outcomes and outputs, and ensure learning is carried forward, shared and incorporated into future programme strategy.

  • Lead on the recruitment of volunteers.
  • Line manage volunteers as required, developing and monitoring their performance and capacity.

5. Relationship management

  • Establish, maintain and develop effective working relationships with key external stakeholders and partners.
  • Participate in local events and conferences to promote the project and build partnerships for new developments.

6. Organisational development

  • Actively participate in defining personal, team and organisational goals.
  • Liaise with other community practitioners across Groundwork London and Groundwork South to share best practice, ensure effective project delivery on crossthemed projects, replicate development opportunities and maximise team skills.

  • Participate in the Groundwork South Performance Management and Appraisal process, and agree short, medium and long term goals with line manager, and direct line staff.
  • Identify learning and development needs with line manager and evaluate Training &
Development to demonstrate needs have been met.

  • Share best practice and achievements, and actively seek opportunities to present out
