Job Purpose

  • Responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant delivery of the the client operation within agreed cost and performance parameters, providing day to day management of Nominated Post Holders (including Ground Ops, CAM, Safety and Compliance).
  • Deputise for the CEO/Accountable Manager as required.
  • Member of the client Leadership Team, providing strategic leadership, internal and external stakeholder management, and building industry leading colleague engagement / culture.
  • Leading and coordinating CAA relationship and oversight on behalf of the Accountable Manager.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Assure the safety, security and compliance of the airline, via the iMS, leading the Nominated Post Holders (Ground, CAM, Safety, and Compliance) to discharge their regulatory and corporate responsibilities, providing the Accountable Manager with sufficient data and insight to discharge their responsibilities, ensuring the client delivers a high performing Safety Management System.
  • Leads the Operations team to deliver on all punctuality, regularity, and customer service targets using data and analytics to report on and improve operational performance.
  • Provides central point of leadership for all the client operational activity. Maintains oversight of operational planning to ensure that the operational plan is robust and deliverable.
  • Deliver a fully costed operational fiveyear business plan and annual financial plan, ensuring strong financial control over expenditure and internal control over the Company's assets, delivering high productivity, utilisation, and a competitive cost base.
  • Contribute to the Company's strategic direction in consultation with the client Board Recruitment.
  • Deliver a strong customer strategy to achieve competitive advantage through service differentiation.
  • Leverage parent company brand strength, capabilities, synergies, and resource where appropriate, while delivering independence and autonomy where this is a more effective solution.
  • Builds strong relationship with internal stakeholders with the client, especially Flight Operations and Network Planning, key stakeholders in the delivery of the operation.
  • Innovate and challenge the statusquo. Offer testbed opportunities to the parent company for new commercial, service, or technology concepts.
  • Owns companywide corporate risk reporting, identifying areas of business risk and ensures that the teams appropriately manage, mitigates, and resolves risks.
  • Owns crisis management systems and processes and ensures appropriate business resilience measures are in place across the organisation. Lead Gatwick's disruption planning and response for the client.
  • Delivers high organisational performance through being a role model leader and championing the delivery of the People Plan. Accountable for the culture, behaviours, colleague engagement and wellbeing within the team ensuring it is a great place to work.
  • Manage outsourced service suppliers for Gatwick to ensure an efficient, safe and value operation e.g. GHA, 145, vehicle maintenance, catering.
  • Lead strategic partnership relationships and (and in conjunction with procurement team) negotiate effective contracts.
  • Oversee the client property, infrastructure, IT portfolio. and infrastructure.
  • Support the LT and Head of Flight Operations in delivery of the companies sustainability objectives, including fuel and carbon targets.

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent.
  • Professional qualification or relevant post graduate academic qualifications.

Experience and Knowledge

  • Experience of leading a large team in a complex operational environment.
  • Experience of building a strong team and company culture.
  • Experience of working with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience of working with data and analytics Knowledge of the requirements of an Accountable Manager.
  • Previous experience of airline operations.
  • Previous experience of building financial plans and capital investment appraisals.
  • Experience of negotiating large value contracts.
  • Previous experience of working with the CAA.
  • Experience of building short and mediumterm strategic business plans and key performance measures.
  • Experience of creating and delivering innovative projects.
  • Experience of working in the lowcost carrier market.
