Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW)

Location:
Remote - Hertfordshire & Surrounding areas


Salary:
£45,000 to 55,000 dependant on experience plus package


Summary
A fast growing Environmental Consultancy specialising in ecology, hydrology, contaminated land, construction sector support and arboricultural advice is looking to take on an EcologicalClerk of Works (ECoW) to support the delivery of a diverse portfolio of works in the South of England


As an Ecological Clerk of Works, you'll be a vital point of contact for ecological matters onsite, with the responsibility for monitoring and managing construction risks associated with ecology, as well as providing input to continuous improvement of environmental processes, procedures, and related forms.


Main Duties of the role:

Programming and coordination of data sets and site surveys and organising specialist ecological surveys as and when required.


Maintaining and constantly improving the ecological surveying and reporting procedure to increase effective information transfer throughout the schemes delivery process.

Lead and/or assist at Protected species surveys

Advise internal and external clients / colleagues on ecological matters - Conducting site walkovers / surveys

Liaise with designers, contractors, and the client regarding ecological elements of schemes.

Actively promote Health and Safety in the workplace, setting a good example to other employees and ensuring awareness of and compliance with all legal requirements via the processes set out in the Health and Safety Procedures.

Ensuring Team compliance on H&S for site visits

For all works - ensure compliance at all times with European and UK Environmental and Wildlife Laws.


Skills and Experience
years' experience Ecological Clerk of Works experience

  • Relevant degree in ecology or a related field
  • Have a valid driving licence
  • Previous experience undertaking ecological surveys in the UK and/or botanical surveys is desirable
  • Any protected species licences would be highly desirable
  • Relevant consultancy experience
  • Report writing skills
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Proficient in Word and Excel is desirable
  • Membership to the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM)
