Macildowie are working in partnership with a local authority in Derbyshire to appoint a Senior Accountant who will lead a team to oversee the financial management, budgets and financial reporting within the council.

Reporting into the Head of Finance you will be responsible for the leadership of a high performing team in the management of the transactional finance function whilst supporting the preparation, monitoring and year-end processes for revenue budgets.

Youwill also be responsible for overseeing the systems maintenance and improvements as well as the statutory returns including VAT.

Salary - £38,893 - £41,74- which includes a 15% market supplement,
Key duties will include;

Budget preparation, monitoring and final accounts processes, and provision of financial information and advice, for a range of council services, for revenue expenditure.
Coordinate revenue monitoring and forecast outturn processes, to facilitate the creation of monthly reports.
Provide financial information, advice, training and other assistance to budget holders and other officers when required.
Assist with the preparation of the Statement of Accounts, complying with the CIPFA Code of Practice.
Oversee a number of monthly reconciliations being undertaken, providing advice and support as required.
Complete financial returns and questionnaires within deadlines for relevant services and functions
Undertake development and maintenance of the Financial Management System (Agresso) and the income management system under the direction of the Financial Services Manager, including the preparation of reports, management of upgrades and system testing.
Provide day to day support and advice in accounting for VAT.
