The Role Responsibilities

Strategy:


  • Responsible for developing and managing the implementation of GS client segment strategies, including a global client value proposition, as a framework within which the client segment and product groups operate and ensuring the CCIB marketing strategy supportthis.

Business:


  • Act as part of a global management team interacting with all key geographies and products
  • Drive the CCIB Client Coverage and GS agenda including working with client segments and Products Partners to identify and target transaction opportunities in the region
  • Take a leadership origination role on strategic transactions
  • Work on a senior basis on important transactions as a senior resource to ensure 'world class' execution
  • Oversee deal selection, conflict resolution and risk management to ensure the firm chooses business consistent with its strategy and policies
  • Report to senior management on important business developments, risk issues and other relevant issues
  • Plan with teams how to best organise and drive business success and target client penetration
  • Develop and maintain strong industry contacts and knowledge.

Processes:


  • Manage all the GS processes allocated by the Group as part of the Group's process universe.
  • Manage the implementation of policies and control standards set by risk control owners, ensuring compliance and operating within risk tolerance and risk appetite.
  • Drive continuous improvement of the operational efficiency and effectiveness of processes to increase the consistency of global systems and processes.
  • Work with direct reports, Global Product Partners and CCMT peers to support consistent product delivery.
  • Ensure there is a framework for effective management of operational risks within the GS and compliance with applicable internal policies, and external laws and regulations.
  • Work with direct reports to support the delivery of the GS strategy in a safe and wellcontrolled manner and on an endtoend basis incorporating infrastructure requirements and building a business that is fitforgrowth.
  • Responsible for defining and where appropriate providing investment capacity for the development of technology infrastructure for GS, ensuring that this satisfies the needs of the business and compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements. Driveprioritisation of investment spend before and after investment reviews.

People and Talent:


  • Responsible for managing and recruiting staff in GS, ensuring adequate staffing to meet the business objectives and strong talent identification, succession planning and development activities.
  • Provide effective leadership to the business (with direct reports and CCMT members), communicate the vision and build commitment and energy to focus on key priorities
  • Build and maintain an effective management team callable of delivering the GS strategy and through assignment to direct reports:
  • Oversee a talent identification process and sponsor development activities that focus on identified high performing and high potential individuals in the Group's business to ensure a high-quality succession pipeline.
  • Develop and reward talented people and deliver business goals by active sponsorship and leadership of people management activities.
Lead the way on culture and values to set the appropriate tone across GS and work with fellow CCMT members to ensure people are recognised and rewarded adequately


Risk Management:


  • Responsible for managing financial crime, especially for CDD for GS clients
  • Responsible for managing the integrity of client data for GS clients
  • Ensure there are appropriate frameworks in place so that the business is carried out within the Group's risk appetite and reputational and credit risks are appropriately managed in conjunction with direct reports and other stakeholders
  • Provide oversight across the GS business and through assignment to direct reports and working in conjunction with Regional, Cluster and Country CEOs ensure compliance with the highest standards of regulatory conduct and compliance standards and practicesas defined by internal and external requirements. This includes compliance with antimoney laundering regulations and guidelines.
  • Ensure any audit and compliance issues relating to the GS are resolved in a timely manner

Governance:


  • Accountable for all escalation from GS to CCMT and or CCIBMT and Group governance committees or to other stakeholders in senior management, risk or control functions as appropriate.
  • Responsible for assessing the effectiveness of the Group's arrangements to deliver effective governance, oversight and controls in the business and, if necessary, oversee changes in these areas
  • Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework, in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.
  • Responsible for delivering 'effective governance'; capability to challenge fellow executives effectively; and willingness to work with any local regulators in an open and cooperative manner.

  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations,guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.

  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
