Description

Do you possess the patience, empathy, and skills required to provide tailored support in an educational setting? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our dedicated team as a SEN Teaching Assistant.

The Role:

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting a student with complex needs and challenging behaviour within our school.

Your main objective will be to assist the student in accessing the curriculum and promoting their personal, social, and academic development.

You will work closely with the classroom teacher, the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator), and other professionals involved in the student's care.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide onetoone support for the student, both inside and outside the classroom, ensuring their safety, wellbeing, and engagement in learning activities.
Assist in implementing individualized learning plans and behavior management strategies tailored to the student's specific needs.
Foster a supportive and inclusive environment that encourages the student's participation and social interaction with peers.
Collaborate effectively with the classroom teacher and other staff members to adapt and differentiate teaching materials and methods as required.
Monitor and record the student's progress, behavior, and any incidents, and report them to the appropriate individuals.
Support the student in developing essential life skills, independence, and selfconfidence.
Maintain regular communication with parents and caregivers, providing updates on the student's progress and highlighting any concerns or achievements.

Requirements:

Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role, preferably with students with special educational needs.
Care background would be beneficial if school setting is not your experience.
Sound knowledge and understanding of various complex needs, such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and emotional and behavioural difficulties.
Ability to demonstrate patience, resilience, and empathy when working with students with challenging behavior.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with students, parents, and members of the school community.
Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the changing needs and demands of the student and the educational environment.
Relevant qualifications in teaching assistance or special education would be advantageous.
