Due to increased demand for our Information and Advice Line services here at Age UK, we are expanding our team and are now recruiting for passionate
Customer Advisers.

These are not standard contact centre opportunities, some of the calls to our Advice Line can be fun, some are straightforward and simple, however many are calls that you might find to be emotionally and mentally demanding.

We are looking for highly effective communicators who can assist older people to get the help and support that they need.

We are in the height of a cost-of-living crisis, many older people in the UK are in desperate need of advice and support.

As a Customer Adviser, you will be playing an important role in this vital service; providing information and advice and signposting them, their families, carers and other professionals to other organisations and bodies that can help with their specific needs.

This can be a challenging role, it's very busy, with new enquiries coming in all the time but if you are resilient and passionate about helping others and are committed to providing an excellent customer service, this could be the role for you.

We'll provide you with all the training needed in order to be successful and make a positive impact to someone else's life.

These opportunities offer hybrid working between home and either our Blackpool office, surrounded by excellent amenities or our Ashburton office, situated on the edge of the beautiful Dartmoor National Park.

During the 6 month probation period you will be required to attend the office 2-3 times a week. Applicants will therefore need to live within at least a 40-minute commutable distance to one of the 2 offices.

Please note that this service is operational every day of the year and the successful applicant will be required to work on some weekends and bank holidays.

This is a full-time opportunity working 35 hours (5 days) per week within the service's operational hours - 8:00 - 19:00, Monday - Sunday on a rota basis.

You will have:

  • Previous Customer Service experience
  • Good understanding of Word / Excel / Outlook
  • Previous experience of using CRM systems to process customer data
  • Accurate data entry skills
  • High levels of personal resilience
  • The ability to cope under pressure
  • Excellent listening, oral and written communication skills
  • Numeracy skills
  • A confident, professional, outgoing telephone manner
  • A flexible attitude to hours of work
  • An ability to work as part of a team
  • A passion for helping and supporting others
What we offer in return

  • Competitive salary, 26 days annual leave + bank holidays
  • Excellent pension scheme, life assurance, health cashback plan and EAP.
  • Car Benefit Scheme, Cycle to Work Scheme and Season Ticket Loan.
  • Techscheme buy any tech from Apple or Currys, up to £1000, and spread the cost over 12 months, interest free
  • Heka Fitness & Wellbeing Benefit.
  • You Did It Awards recognition awards from £
