WHAT TO EXPECT


This role sits in the Learning Academy and operates in an Agile methodology and mindset to build new learning systems, process and solutions for technical capability growth of the business.

The role is split fairly evenly between duties as "Scrum Master" and "Senior Learning Developer".


As "Scrum Master" you will help mobilise agile "squads" using recognised Agile "Ceremonies" creating a drumbeat typically based around sprints of a fortnight duration.

You will review and refine the Product and Sprint backlog. Resolve obstacles and align with other squads where necessary.

Maintaining an eye on "Value Assessment" during solution creation, and facilitate retrospectives with the squad to identify opportunities for performance improvement.


As "Senior Learning Developer" you will use your previous experience of learning and development activities or specific technical expertise to enable the solution development of a range of exciting and varied learning projects from across the business.

This may range from processes and practices to support capability growth through to specific learning intervention sourcing or design.

You will use a diverse range of formats tailoring solutions to provide an outstanding employee experience which is engaging and effective.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Delivery of learning solutions using appropriate agile methodologies, learning & iterating frequently
  • Supporting and coaching squad and wider teams to success in delivering their work identifying and removing blockages.
  • Support robust scope definition and prioritisation of work packages working with Learning Academy Product Owners, strategic business stakeholders, and technical Subject Matter Experts. Adopt a 5DI approach to requirements definition, and to track performance against target.
  • Checks, challenges and delivers against task elements and definition of done requirements
  • Facilitates story refinement and assesses risk.
  • Tracks progress and supports planning and delivery of key milestones / deliverables, including cost and quality indicators.
  • Encourages collaboration with relevant stakeholders and wider learning academy team members.
  • Supports time / effort estimation and understands squad velocity.
  • Support the effective piloting of major technical skills solutions to ensure readiness for volume delivery and that delivery teams have all the necessary information to execute consistently and effectively.
  • Maintain awareness of external trends and practices which influence future needs and demands on the technical learning teams.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • Experience of working in an Agile team, and operation of Agile Ceremonies.
  • Operational experience of delivering complex projects able to construct an effective breakdown of work, writing concise requirements, assess risks and deliver results.
  • Ability to manage and assess priorities.
  • Embraces the contribution of each squad member.
  • Strong, engaging and inclusive oral and written communication.
  • Ability to communicate with individuals from both technical and nontechnical backgrounds, and present content in a meaningful, clear, and concise manner.
  • Able to quickly build effective working relationships with others eg Technical Specialist supporting specific sprint activities.
  • Demonstrates a professional outlook and complementary behaviours.
  • Confident using and manipulating data in order to assess and make improvements.
