Production Foreman/Team Leader


Responsible for:
Operating machinery to production plan to achieve daily targets


Purpose of Job:
To operate machinery in a safe and efficient manner to achieve targets set by management.


Key result areas:


  • Implementation of the objectives set by management.
  • Uphold the company's values of safety, quality and performance.
  • Maintain the quality standards for the product set by the company.
  • Comply with all statutory legislation and the companies Health and Safety Policies.
  • Assisting the Production Team Leader in achieving the daily production plan.
  • Support the company's Business Excellence.
  • Generate KPI's relating to production department efficiency.
  • Providing support and guidance on work related procedures or policies.
  • Lead teams from other departments in solving problems on machinery and procedures.
  • Coaching employees in developing their skills and knowledge, including providing opportunity for employees to learn new skills.
  • Relay improvement ideas to senior managers.
  • Encouraging and motivating your team.
  • Collaborate with technical and quality departments on associated projects.
  • Adhering to and carrying out the company's 5s programme by maintain housekeeping Standards.
  • Ensure all relevant company procedures and policies are followed.

Knowledge

  • Basic understanding of rollforming and press operation.
  • Planning methodologies (Kanban, made to stock etc.).
  • Understand engineering drawings.

Skills/Experience

  • Previous experience in similar roles.
  • Ability to work under pressure meeting required targets.
  • Good organisational skills
  • Using high precision measuring tools including verniers, micrometres and protractors.
  • Application of problemsolving techniques in real world situations.
  • Good communication skills.

Qualifications

  • GCSE maths/English
  • Slinger and banks man Certificate to use overhead crane correctly.


  • Adult Literacy level

  • Adult Numeracy level
  • First aid (optional)
  • Fire Marshal (optional)

Daily Duties

  • Carry out TPM checks on machine to be operated.
  • Operate machines as per the standard operating procedure to achieve daily production targets.
  • Perform quality checks on product.
  • Check steel stock and reorder where necessary.
  • Record machine and labour production information.
  • Monitor daily throughput of plant (actual v plan including settings v targets and investigate and report discrepancies).

Weekly Duties

  • Update KPI's as per defined list.

Duties as required

  • Carry out Sample Checks.
  • Activate TPM cards for breakdowns and other repairs.
  • Report breakdowns to your line manager immediately.
  • Carry out basic machine maintenance agreed with the Team Leader.
  • Trouble shoot production problems.
  • Investigate NCN's.
  • Any other duties as required by the management team.
