As part of our Financial Control team, you'll have the chance to provide essential support to our Finance department's office accounting function, working alongside a team of 19 experienced professionals.

Your Role


In this role, you will have the chance to work on a range of exciting tasks, including preparation of balance sheet reconciliations, raising sundry invoices in the finance system, preparing various journals for posting, and assisting with the review of codingof purchase ledger invoices.

You'll also work closely with the Financial Control Assistant Manager, supporting them with ad hoc tasks as needed.


Your Responsibilities

  • Preparation of Balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Raising sundry invoices in the finance system.
  • Preparation of various journals for posting with supporting documentation.
  • Assisting and reviewing the coding of purchase ledger invoices before posting them to the purchase ledger.
  • Performing review and correction of expense coding weekly.
  • Reviewing daily manual payments for completeness and appropriate signatories adhering to signatory approval limits.
  • Maintain and review Fixed asset schedules plus supporting information.
  • Posting of prepayments and set up of Fixed Assets in the Finance system typically daily.
  • Setting up bank details for suppliers and expenses in the finance system.
  • Accounting for leases, Dilapidations, and rentfree periods for the offices.
  • Support the Financial Control Assistant Manager with ad hoc tasks.
  • Reviewing Partner travel, Partner expense claims and Partner car expenses and reporting queries to Financial Control Manager.
  • Responsible for monthly SSG accruals and prepayments.
  • Responsibility for monthly recharges from the Balance sheet to client ledgers.
  • Analysis of management information adhoc. e.g., assistance with completing ONS and various surveys.
  • Preparation of various bank reconciliations monthly.
  • Maintenance of GL codes closing off entries.
  • Ongoing monitoring of risk and controls within the Finance department and reporting any breaches to the Head of Financial Control.
  • Provide support and cover for the financial control team members and work closely with Financial Operations and Financial Planning and Analysis teams.

Your Skills


We're looking for someone who has started their professional accounting qualifications (ACCA/CIMA or ICAEW) and has a high level of computer literacy (Word and Excel, or equivalent).

The successful individual will have excellent attention to detail and bewell organised, with a flexible, enthusiastic attitude to work and a strong ability to learn through practical experience.

Professional services firm experience in finance for an LLP would be highly advantageous.


Remuneration and Rewards

  • A base salary of up to £40,000.
  • Full study support for professional accounting qualifications.
  • A 35hour working week with flexibility around the core hours of 10am4pm.
  • The agile working policy gives you the option to work from home for up to 3 days per week.
  • Paid overtime or time off in lieu.
  • 25 days annual leave. After 5 years of service, the entitlement will be increased by 1 day.
  • In addition, employees are entitled to buy or sell up to 5 days of holiday a year.
  • Contributory pension scheme (The firm will contribute 5% of salary on a matched basis with employees from their date of joining).
  • Life assurance cover of 4 x annual salary.
  • Work fromhome allowance of £25 a month.
  • Eligibility for the firm's Profit-Sharing Plan that runs from October to September each year. The scheme enables staff to share in the profits of the firm. Payment is usually c£1,000. Paid in December.
  • New client referral scheme. Members of staff introducing a new client to the firm, have the potential to receive a referral payment of up to 10% of the first year's total fees.
