The role


Here at Northumbria Police, we think our region is amazing It takes a great deal of people from different backgrounds, with diverse skills and experience to serve our force area effectively, think you have what it takes to help us make a difference? This could be the perfect time for you to join us in our Professional Standards Department as an Investigator (PSD).

We're looking for someone to join our dedicated team as an Investigator.

This is a very important role where you'll be working with the investigation team and assisting with both criminal and misconduct investigations, as well as public complaints.

You'll have responsibility for case management including collating the best evidence to progress investigations, conducting interviews, and outlining your findings.

You'll find this an interesting role if you enjoy gathering information and liaising with others to get the detail you need and eventually delivering a responsible outcome.


What you'll do

  • Case management including handling exhibits, gathering evidence, conducting interviews and taking witness statements in to achieve the best evidence to progress investigations.
  • Collating reports, outlining your findings and recommendations in each case. Liaising with a variety of stakeholders, both internal and external for example legal teams and witness management.
  • Organising meetings and hearings, ensuring this is carried out efficiently and with confidentiality.
  • Maintaining and using national computer systems to retrieve relevant information relating to complaints.
  • Ensuring continuous learning is gained from investigations.
