Description

IT Cost Finance Business Partner

Customers Finance are looking for an IT Cost Finance Business Partner to play a vital role in our Retail and Zero Carbon Homes Finance team, working closely with senior managers and business partners to support specific Directors within our Retail organisation.

The Opportunity

Your primary ally will be the Director of Solutions and Automation, as you step into the shoes of a senior finance professional driving cost management and optimization across critical IT and software projects.

From spearheading the implementation of a new billing system for our Retail business unit to actively ensuring the efficacy of our Anaplan rolling forecast, your expertise will shape the financial landscape of our operations.

Reporting to one of our esteemed Senior Managers overseeing Retail opex, you'll be at the forefront of shaping a sustainable and successful future for EDF Retail and Zero Carbon Homes.

Pay, benefits and culture

Alongside a competitive salary and a market-leading pension scheme, we offer a range of flexible benefits to support our people across all aspects of their lives.

Your rewards package includes a choice of benefits, such as electric vehicle leasing, enhanced parental leave, health insurance, discounts, and employee pricing.

Flexible working means you can work from home (if you wish) and we'll provide a suite of IT equipment to ensure that you can work remotely comfortably and effectively.

At EDF, everyone's welcome.

We strive to create an inclusive and diverse environment where everyone has a voice and where you feel confident being yourself.

We're committed to equality, diversity and inclusion.

We'd like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.

We'll value the difference you bring and offer opportunities for you to thrive and succeed.

What you'll be doing

As the central figure in critical project cost decisions, with a budget of £50 million, your role is pivotal in ensuring optimal value for the Solutions and Automation team, driving positive impacts on business performance and strategy.

You'll take ownership of financials related to key projects, such as the new Retail billing platform, providing essential financial modelling to support contractual decisions.

Your expertise will shine as you develop ambitious yet realistic budgets and forecasts in collaboration with business partners, ensuring robust planning and effective cost management across project portfolios.

Upholding financial standards and policies, you'll provide guidance on journal activity and capitalization, maintaining compliance with accounting standards.

Collaborating closely with operational counterparts, like the Director of Solutions and Automation, you'll provide monthly forecasts, ensuring timely risk escalation and serving as the primary point of contact for all reporting cycles.

Transparency is key as you produce and maintain a comprehensive list of assumptions, simplifying complex forecasts for key stakeholders.

Your responsibilities extend to overseeing Capex forecasts, aligning with accounting policies and serving as the liaison with the Corporate accounting team for IT project spend capitalisation.

Additionally, you'll drive process improvements, leveraging outsourcing and automation where beneficial.

In this multifaceted role, your contributions will be instrumental in driving efficiency and success within the Retail Solutions and Automation team.

Who you are

Your expertise in project accounting within the finance sector, ideally within energy, or your passion for the industry, will be the cornerstone of your success.

Adaptability is key in our fast-paced environment, where you'll thrive on change, showcasing resilience alongside top-notch organizational and prioritization skills.

Your ability to navigate finance systems with ease, analysing and interpreting vast amounts of data, coupled with excellent commercial acumen, will set you apart.

You'll be the master of converting complex data into executive-level narratives, armed with advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills. Experience in handling imperfect systems and data, coupled with logical thinking and strong analytical prowess, will be your forte.

With a continuous improvement mindset and an insatiable thirst for learning, you'll challenge the status quo with a natural curiosity.

Whether working independently or as part of a collaborative team, your contributions will be invaluable.

Ideally, you'll bring proven experience or a solid understanding of the energy industry, and a background as a qualified management accountant (CIMA) or equivalent experience in numerical teams.
