About the Role:


Base Location:
Flexible, however our preference is that you will be based in one of our key UK or Ireland sites, which includes but is not limited to:

  • Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen, Inverness, Reading, Havant, Belfast or Dublin.

As the Renewables Engineering Electrical Technical Authority, you will;

  • Write and maintain electrical technical specifications and guidance notes required for electrical primary plant (transformers, AIS & GIS switchgear, reactive compensation plant, CT's/VT's, harmonic filters), protection and auxiliary equipment.
  • Provide technical input to design reviews carried out by the Design Authority and provide specialist input where required to verify project proposals are fit for purpose and identify any scope changes required.
  • Ensure that all technology and equipment selected conforms to company and industry standards and specifications and approved for use.
  • Provide technical guidance and advice to the renewables business for new and replacement plant and to support Asset Management regarding equipment capability or fault investigations.
  • Represent company at industry body events such as Carbon Trust, DNV or CIGRE working groups and attend conferences.

What do I need?:

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline and Chartered Engineer status with a relevant institution or working towards chartered status.
  • The ability to technically assess issues and/or problems and critically assess a range of technical solutions. Experience in designing, manufacturing, testing, installation or maintenance of transmission voltage plant and equipment would also be advantageous.
  • The capability and experience in writing technical specifications, guidance notes and work instructions for plant, equipment or substation design.
