The Role

The CAA has a duty to ensure that the utilisation of the UK's airspace is monitored, that the industry is updated, and that safety is maintained.

To this end, our Airspace Utilisation team is responsible for the coordination and notification of relevant industry partners regarding Unusual Aerial Activity and Obstacle Notification.

This is done through an online system called Military-Electronic Aeronautical Messaging Service, MilEAMS.

Unusual activity and obstacles are defined as generally hazardous activities that could pose a risk to other air users and can cover anything from flying displays to cranes.

  • Are a capable and efficient communicator, bother written and verbally, with an inquisitive mind set
  • Experience with MS Office, SharePoint, Google Earth as well as other technical information systems
  • Some prior knowledge of airspace and its regulation from either a civilian or military context
