Description of Business Unit


We are a growing and exciting Data Factory team providing engineering services across key technology platforms that underpin the Group's data architecture and data supply chains.

We deliver Digital, Customer, Regulatory and other change initiatives that drive the Group's transformation agenda.

We have fully adopted new ways of working such as scaled agile, DevOps and design thinking in a highly collaborative team environment.

Purpose of the Role

Bank Data Factory provides critical data integration and engineering services to support the Bank's change programme of initiatives. The factory operates a 'one team' culture delivering through multi-functional squads.

Solution Architects operate as a shared service provider to the delivery squads in developing solution plans and crafting from start to finish data warehouse solutions.

Key Accountabilities

  • Accountable for delivering effective solution designs within the Bank's EDW platform
  • Design endtoend data warehouse solutions to meet business needs within the context of a broader solution implementation
  • Contributor to overall solution planning, providing input into the factory estimation process as well as highlighting technical risks, issues and assumptions
  • Produce required design artefacts
  • Work with the business and programmes to help refine their data requirements
  • Present to the Bank's Architecture Review Board when
  • Engage with key partners in the Group Data Office and across the business
  • Provide support to and engage with nonfactory solution architects on change initiatives
  • Ensure solutions align with strategic architecture principles and direction
  • Review the designs produced by the technical teams to ensure alignment with the overall solution design
  • Support the delivery lead to break down the solution so that it can be delivered iteratively in sprints
  • Support other engineering functions within the factory, including mapping, build, test and release
  • Review requirements and supervise change requests to ensure that the solution design is fit for purpose

  • 3rd level degree in similar discipline or equivalent experience

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Experienced solution architect in crafting solutions for data warehouse projects and programmes working in complex, multivendor change delivery organisations
  • Data/datawarehousing knowledge and experience particularly on the Teradata EDW platform or similar technology
  • Experience in modern engineering practices and technologies
  • Experience with Data Modelling (Logical and Physical), Erwin data modelling tools, Teradata FSLDM (Financial Services Logical Data Model), ETL and enterprise reporting tools
  • Solid understanding of Informatica and data architecture principles
  • Continuous improvement and innovative mindset
  • Ability to work independently with minimal mentorship
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and meet fast paced timelines
