This is an exciting time to join Leicester Museums & Galleries as a new strategic vision is now in place and several significant capital projects are underway.

Although Leicester is already full of world class art and culture, the city council is committed to growth and the vision is to create experiences that make Leicester truly special.

At Leicester Museum & Art Gallery, the city's flagship museum, we are undertaking a major capital project that will create new galleries, visitor routes and a new café.

The café will be relocated to the current Wild Space gallery and a new environmental gallery is planned.

photographs, provision of dimensions for the creation of display mounts.

The final stages of the project will involve the postholder in unpackaging the objects and placing them in their new cases.

You'll be researching and writing accessible copy as required for the delivery of collections initiatives. This will entail involving people from all backgrounds and abilities with museum collections.

Working closely with staff across the Service, especially those in Collections and you'll facilitate the physical creation and delivery of collections initiatives including organising activities, creating displays, and liaising with internal Exhibition and Displays colleagues, designers, and external contractors as required.

What you'll need

You'll have experience of ensuring collections are accessible and engaging to audiences, practical experience of providing museum collections care and undertaking museum documentation for varied collections (in either paid or volunteer capacity), Experience of working directly with a wide range of audiences, and ages, and abilities and experience of producing accessible content interpreting museum collections and experience of supervising and developing other people.

You'll have the ability to problem-solve and enjoy inspiring others.

As an excellent communicator, you'll delight in working with a wide range of stakeholders, including community groups, visitors and non-visitors, volunteers, and people from all different backgrounds.

In addition, you'll have good attention to detail and accuracy, and the ability to deliver under pressure and to tight deadlines.
