About the role
We're looking for a Commercial Finance Analyst to work on a hybrid basis from our Support Office in Swindon.

As a Commercial Finance Analyst, you will be a key business partner to one of our regional operations teams.

Reporting to your Regional Finance Manager (RFM), you will build constructive and effective relationships with our Area Relationship Managers (ARMs)and Joint Venture Partners (JVPs), providing support and analysis as well as managing reporting deadlines, expectations and delivery.


You'll essentially act as a translator between Finance and Operations (and vice versa) and you'll get a great mix of working with numbers and people.

The role is part of a larger team of Analysts and RFMs that truly work as a team, supporting and sharingideas across the board.


Practices include First Opinion Vet Practices which are run as Joint Venture Partnerships, Group Venture practices and Company Owned practices.

Key responsibilities will include (but not limited to);

  • Ownership of queries from RFM, ARMs and JVPs, ensuring these are responded to and resolved efficiently and appropriately within Service Level Agreement timelines
  • A proactive approach to periodic practice reviews, highlighting key discussion points to support the RFM with Exec, ARMs and JVP finance reviews
  • Reviewing the surplus cash position to propose early bank and partner loan repayments, plus interim and Year End dividend declarations
  • Attending and presenting at Regional Meetings (as required)
  • Analysis of practice performance, identifying areas of strength, weakness, and opportunity, reporting to the RFM and ARM to support future performance
  • Supporting with performance analysis to feed into the Group Reporting team and FP&A team
  • Supporting with the budget process by collating data, loading and testing

About you

  • You'll be a part or fully qualified Accountant / Finalist (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • The ability to work at pace and have a high level of organisational skills
  • A strong service ethos and the ability to deliver a high level of customer service
  • High level of attention to detail
  • The ability to prioritise workload and manage strict deadlines
  • You'll be an effective communicator at all levels, and you must be able to communicate complex financial issues in a simple and easy to understand manner to nonfinancial partners and colleagues
  • A team player, able to communicate and work effectively across disciplines
  • A passion for accuracy and a drive for improvement
  • The ability to own problems to a conclusion
