Salary:
£30, £33,646.38 per annum pro rata - 38-week year


Contract:
Permanent, Part Time 20.91 hours per week, over 38 weeks.


Location:

Prominently based at our College Green (BS1) and Ashley Downs (BS7) centres but may require travel across all College sites in Bristol and South Gloucestershire.

We have an exciting new opportunity for an enthusiastic and proactive Learning Assistant/Communication Support Worker LA/CSW.


About the role:

We are, ideally, looking for someone with experience of working as a communication support worker in education.

You must be flexible in your approach to facilitate communication for a wide range of deaf and hard of hearing students.

You must be confident in working in a fast-paced environment, with changing priorities. It is essential you hold a level 3 qualification in BSL.


You will provide Deaf Awareness training, advice and guidance for teaching staff and/or peer group/front line staff and to involve the learners whenever possible.

You will join a committed team, who work closely with students and other college staff, to reduce barriers to learning, increase opportunities towards improved outcomes, maximise success, enable greater autonomy and develop further independence for all learners.


You will also deliver an effective communication support service through working closely with deaf and hard of hearing learners on barriers to learning under the direction of teachers and/or supervisors, leading to improved outcomes for learners and greater autonomy and independence.

You will maximise the success of deaf and hard of hearing learners who have a communication support need, working closely with teaching staff and supporting colleagues.

You will also need to be able to build and maintain excellent working relationships with stakeholders, at all levels, internally and externally, as well as other members of College staff and students
