Material Controller/Driver

Inchinnan, Glasgow Permanent position

About the role:


The Material Controller will be accountable for the stock accuracy, delivery and performance within the specific product line area which they will be embedded in.

They will be expected to have high standards of material control management, execution and reporting, all managed through the Glovia system function.


As a driver you will be representing JFD when meeting the customer, this role will lead by example and be diplomatic and act in a professional manner.


The role incumbent will be required to liaise with the project team to deliver the project on time, on budget and to the complete satisfaction of the customer and internal stakeholders.


Your key responsibilities will also include:

This role is to take ownership of the stock control within a project environment at JFD, where you will be accountable for the delivery of stock accuracy.

Consistent and regular counting and stock taking activities and delivering and collecting goods from customers and vendors.

  • In addition:
  • Act as the primary point of contact with the customer and be comfortable dealing with Senior Military and/or Defence personnel, whilst being the representative for JFD.
  • Work with HSEQ Department to ensure compliance with all Safety, Quality, Environmental and Security policies, processes and procedures are achieved throughout the lifecycle of the project.
  • Whilst driving you must ensure that all traffic laws are observed and that your vehicle is always road worthy.
  • Accurately communicate project status and performance (weekly & monthly reporting as required) to internal stakeholders, in accordance with the approved reporting processes. This will include working and reporting with the project team members when performing the material control tasks.
  • Work effectively with relevant stakeholders for efficient project implementation and execution, whilst supporting the stores management when requested.
  • Ensure relevant paperwork flow is consistent and timely.
What do you need?

  • PC skills, MRP, Excel, Word, Outlook.
  • Excellent Communicator
  • Good team worker but can work themselves and use their own initiative.
  • Numerate and pays attention to detail.
  • FLT operator.
  • Previous experience of commercially sensitive projects and the security aspects this entails.
  • Experience of delivering in service / contractor logistic support services within a naval maritime environment would be advantageous.
  • Awareness of working to maritime, defence standards and international quality & safety standards would be advantageous.
  • Be flexible and available to travel worldwide in support of project activities.
  • Full clean driving licence.
  • The role will require security clearance from relevant Defence authorities therefore you will need the right to reside and work in the UK along with a checkable work history.
