Plas Dwbl is a provision for Ruskin Mill Trust in Wales based on a 100 acre bio-dynamic farm at the foot of the Preseli Hills.
Building on the success of Coleg Plas Dwbl in North Pembrokeshire, Ruskin Mill Trust launched Ty'r Eithin, near Swansea in South Carmarthen, in September 2020.
Both Plas Dwbl and its satellite Ty'r Eithin offer Ruskin Mill Trust's innovative Practical Skills Therapeutic Education (PSTE) method giving young people the opportunity to overcome barriers to learning, become skilled through doing real life purposeful activities, and engage as valued members of the community.
Tutor, Green Wood Work
40 hours per week for 52 or 37 weeks per year
Grade MS1:
MS4
FTE Salary £23, £34,441.06 per annum
Salary based on 37 weeks per year: £19, £28,107.07 per annum
The post holder will be working with a small group of students, delivering Green Wood Work sessions.
The post holder will have willingness to work outdoors and feeling comfortable in all weathers, as well as working with hand-tools and having experience working with machinery including chainsaws (in-house training/guidance can be provided).
You must be able to instil enthusiasm and enjoyment into the learning process in such a way that can lead to increased self esteem and enhanced engagement in learning.
Applicants for this post should have experience of working with young people and vulnerable adults with special needs, challenging behaviours and mental health difficulties and have a teaching qualification or a willingness to work towards this.
An appreciation of Biodynamic principles is required, however, training will be provided, as the applicant will take part in the Ruskin Mill Trust Biodynamic Training Programme (2 years).
The key duties in this role will include:
- To plan and deliver sessions to a small group of students according to their individual learning needs and requirements.
- Applicants for tutoring posts must hold, or be working towards, or prepared to work towards relevant teaching qualifications in accordance with government regulations.
- To be a part of ongoing assessment of students learning needs and to make reasonable adjustments as required minimising barriers to learning and achievement.
- Experience in the Craft of Green Wood Work is essential.
- You will also be expected to attend training sessions as required by the Trust, which may be outside of your usual working hours.
