The University of Cambridge's Department of Material Sciences & Metallurgy is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Communications & Marketing Coordinator to join our dynamic team and help us showcase our groundbreaking research and our network of open-access facilities.


Responsibilities:


Communications & Marketing Strategy and Plan: - Creating, executing, and upholding a targeted marketing and communications strategy for Royce at Cambridge that caters to both internal and external audiences.

- Identifying objectives and goals, understanding the target audience, developing key communication materials and campaigns essential to accomplishing the set objectives, and implementing tools to gauge the effectiveness of these efforts.

- Liaising with the Royce Hub at Manchester and ensuring close collaboration with researchers, students, and facility managers at Cambridge is crucial to obtain the necessary materials and information.


Networking and Media Relations:

  • Recognising and establishing connections with prospective partners to raise awareness and publicise the accomplishments and undertakings of the Royce programme at Cambridge.
  • Coordinating press releases and articles that showcase both the Royce programme and the Royce at Cambridge Technology Platform, as well as overseeing the promotion of events and facilities through advertising.
  • Crafting informative news pieces sourced from the Royce Community at Cambridge, Royce at Cambridge Technology Platform, and collaborating partners, disseminating these updates on various websites and newsletters.
  • Collaborating with the University and other related programmes' communication teams (such as Energy IRC, Cambridge Zero, Maxwell Centre, and Faraday Institution) is essential to ensure that news is widely shared and reaches a broad audience.

Website and Social Media:

  • Be responsible for keeping the webpages associated with Royce at Cambridge and its facilities on the University website up-to-date and continuously improving them.
  • Creating, organising, and refining both digital and offline content while collaborating closely with the Research & Business Engagement (R&BE) Manager and other important internal stakeholders.
  • Effective communication with senior academic staff members is essential, as the role involves assisting them in utilising and promoting digital content sharing.
  • Be responsible for engaging with the Royce programme, researchers, students, and facility managers to gather relevant materials.
  • Play a crucial part in maintaining the Programme's brand and image by ensuring strict adherence to branding guidelines.

Operations:

  • Supporting the organisation and promotion of a range of events throughout the year, including Open Days, Symposia, and community-building gatherings.
  • Ensuring the upkeep of essential marketing materials, databases, and reporting mechanisms while also generating regular reports on all marketing and communication endeavours as needed. This includes assisting with the writing and design of the first edition of the Royce at Cam Bridge Annual report.
  • Actively participating as a member of the Royce communications group and collaborating with University communications networks to exchange information and coordinate event planning.
  • Offering support, guidance, and training to researchers regarding outreach events and communication efforts whenever necessary.
