We are currently recruiting


4 full time Best Interest Assessors and one part time Best Interest Assessor to work within the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguarding (DoLS) team in Adult Social Care at Lancashire County Council.

The posts will be based across the county although predominantly needed to cover North and East Lancashire.

We are looking for new talent to join an empathetic and empowering team of individuals.

This role will provide an opportunity for you to make a positive impact to the lives of people who are potentially deprived of their liberty.

You will need to have a proactive approach and friendly demeanour, with an ability to implement your previous knowledge and skills whilst remaining approachable and reliable.

Working with a broad spectrum of people and specialists, striving to achieve the best possible outcomes that safeguard people's human rights.

Your role will consist of completing Best Interest Assessments with people who are predominantly in care homes and hospitals.
You must have a Professional Qualification and be registered with relevant Professional Body (Social Work England, HCPC) and have a Best Interest Assessor Certificate (refresher training will be available)


What we are looking for

Passion - you'll be passionate about making a difference to all individuals you come into contact with, wanting to provide a superior service displaying optimism and transparency - you will be consulting with people who may lack mental capacity and their families, therefore excellent communication is key. We want you to have the confidence to balance key information and be able to record details accurately and concisely, therefore ICT competency is required.


Challenge - no two days are the same in this line of work, so your problem-solving skills will be put to the test. You will need to respond quickly and flexibly to changes in your working day. Adult Social Care is changing in terms of legislation, processes, and procedures and therefore we want you to embrace new challenges. You will be looking at care plans with a strength-based focus, preventing and reducing risk of harm to individuals, so you will need have excellent decision-making skills, when weighing up what is necessary and proportionate.


Supportive - you'll be working in a well-established and supportive team, reaping the benefits of a nurturing work environment. You will need to work independently, so you must be motivated and have the confidence to do so; we expect in-depth knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, Human Rights Act, and relevant social care legislations. This level of specialism, coupled with an outstanding work ethic is the perfect combination we require for our service; being able to do what you have been trained to do and putting your skills to good use, will be incredibly rewarding.
