What will you be doing?


You will be designing and executing testing activities, particularly exploratory testing and automation, with emphasis on rapid / on-going delivery of robust Azure-based, enterprise-level IT services.

As well as taking responsibility for the day-to-day running and progress of testing projects whilst working with and managing a range of stakeholders within Agile / DevOps working environments.


  • Under the guidance of the Head of QA and Senior QA Test Lead:
  • Collaborate with stakeholders within and beyond the QA Team, contributing to the testing and quality assurance of enterprise-level IT services
  • Take responsibility for progressing testdriven workstreams by maintaining regular contact with key stakeholders (eg, attend daily Scrum standups, sprint meetings, retrospectives etc)
  • Report testing progress and risks to key stakeholders regularly, flagging problems early
  • Utilise Test Driven Development (TDD) and Behaviour Driven Development (BDD) approaches within the context of Agile / DevOps working environments
  • Document and maintain robust test plans including business process test scenarios
  • Mentor and upskill QA Testers imparting knowledge and experience in a timely and appropriate manner
  • Become expert in writing, maintaining, and debugging robust checking scripts, attaining a high percentage of test automation and regression within CI / CD pipelines
  • Conduct highly effective exploratory testing and maintain clear test plans for test scenarios that can't be automated
  • React promptly and positively to logs and feedback loops that relate to the testing process
  • Maintain honest working relationships with stakeholders keeping them informed and involved in the testing process through open and transparent working policies
  • Be mindful of agreed deadlines making sure they are consistent with past experiences and other factors such as other commitments / priorities

  • Industry trends and best practices, continually seeking to identify opportunities to improve existing testing processes, automating where possible
  • Trends and patterns to assist with incident / problem management
  • Routinely seek to develop and align skillsets across the QA Team to reduce keyperson risk
  • Increase knowledge in nonfunctional testing domains, particularly security testing and performance testing (eg, through Senior QA Test Lead mentoring, work experience, elearning etc)
  • Establish and cultivate relationships with interested stakeholders throughout the firm and be a trusted advisor
What skills and experience are were looking for?

  • Proven professional experience as a QA Test Lead (or equivalent) working within modern software development environments including Agile, Lean, and DevOps
  • Conversant with the Microsoft technology stack including Microsoft Azure, Azure DevOps, Visual Studio (including c# / Git repositories), Office 365, and Power Apps
  • Understand / implement all levels of software testing (from unit testing to user acceptance testing) and how best to approach testing at each level
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills when dealing with developers, business analysts, product owners, senior project stakeholders, and businessled testers (contributing openly, honestly, and proactively in daily standup meetings, retrospectives, sprint meetings etc)
  • Champion and advocate the value of software testing / QA, making sure it becomes embedded in daytoday working activities across all areas of a project (not just the QA Team)
  • Ability to distil user stories into test cases (in Gherkin language), defining SMART acceptance criteria and making sure, where possible, all test cases can be later converted into automated checks (or alternatively clear, documented manual checks)
  • Front end (UI) Seleniumbased automation skills (C# based using a Specflow / BDD approach) and related technologies eg, source code control (confident with code branching, pull requests, merging code etc)
  • REST API testing skills essential across all HT
