Service Care Solutions are working with a Housing Association based in the London area who have a vacancy for a Caretaker to provide a customer focused tenancy & leasehold management service usually as part of a team but often organising your own work andlooking after a particular area.

Main duties will comprise of;

Clean all communal external areas including service and approach roads, grassed areas, refuse chutes, dustbin areas, drains, gullies, drying areas, car parks and play areas where appropriate.


  • Rotate bins regularly to ensure refuse chutes are clear and ensure bulk bins are placed ready for collection.
  • Sweep and wash communal staircase and landing as appropriate.
  • Clean internal ledges, sills, handrails, balustrades, doors, walls and remove cobwebs from light fittings and all surroundings.
  • Following the removal of refuse from the dustbins/bulk refuse containers, hose down and disinfect the area.
  • Remove/paint over graffiti.
  • Collect litter and leaves from grassed and shrubbed areas including pathways through and across such areas.
  • Remove bulk rubbish and/or arrange for its collection.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy store cupboard.
  • Maintenance of grassed areas, shrubs and flower beds
  • Mowing of grassed area using both handheld mowers and ride on mechanical mowers
  • Preparation of ground for planting of annual bedding, shrub borders and beds
  • Digging, forking, hoeing, weeding, pruning, mulching where required.
  • Hedge cutting using hand and mechanical horticultural appliances.
  • Leaf clearing and disposal during winter months
  • Transport grounds maintenance equipment to sites using vans and towing trailers (where needed)
  • Request stores and replacement materials/equipment from line manager.
  • Work with the EM to complete weed spraying activities.
  • Where needed, use the motorised sweepers/cleaners/jet washers/leaf blowers.
  • Effectively take control of the PDA and ensure that all work/time is recorded and all repairs and H&S issues are photographed and full details sent to the appropriate team(s).
Working hours for this role are Monday to Friday 0800am till 1700pm.
